Full Thrust

Full Thrust is a miniatures based game of futuristic combat between fleets of spaceships. One thing we like about this game is that it seems to appeal to the more "serious" historical wargamers as well as those who like sci-fi and fantasy games. For this reason we had a big game of this at our first club meeting at the Legends Bar to break the ice.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of this game is that both sides write down orders for their movement secretly at the same time. Orders are written in short form, e.g. P2+4. This example means turn 2 units to port and accelerate by 4. If you have guessed your opponents move correctly, predicted where your order will take you accurately you will now be in a good position to give them hell. Or you may just crash into a moon and die horribly.

The rules are fairly simple and providing people don't agonise for too long over their orders the game plays quite quickly.

Today's Quote

"Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, and why we died. All that matters is that today, two stood against many. Valour pleases you, so grant me this one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to Hell with you!"

From the film Conan the Barbarian
